PCI certification is a program that was initiated by the credit card organizations MasterCard, Visa, American Express, JCB and Discover Financial Services which joined forces to form the Payment Card Industry (PCI). Certification in accordance with the guidelines of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) is intended to ensure secure processing of credit card transactions and is regularly reviewed.
